A year is four seasons,
Twelve months,
Many holidays and celebrations
Many joys and sadness all in one
For us,
A year has been deep conversations
Fifty-one weeks of evening chats,
Laughs that led to deep sleep,
Frustrations that kept us (well, me) tossing
A year has been…
Lots of good nights hugs and waves from kids,
Shouts of “I love you more” and “I love you both”
So many days of teeth brushed,
Facial serums slathered on
Cheeks kissed, back hugs
And “Are you ready to sleep?”
A year has also been getaway days,
Long drives up and down 95,
Airbnb escapes, so many keypads,
It’s been seating areas, museum strolls,
Bagged dinners and ice cream breaks,
It’s been lots of books read,
Numerable discussions had,
Plans and plants nurtured
Loving long distance has been our path,
Not always fun, not always easy,
Yet incredibly satisfying,
With depth and patience,
With space to feel and exist,
Showing up for each other,
Showing up for our littles,
With space to tend to our griefs,
Yet with room to dream together
A year has meant…
Leaning,
Safety,
Embracing,
Holding,
Forgiving,
Growing,
Loving
My heart found these in yours,
My arms found their embrace in yours,
My love found hope in yours…
Happy One Year,
And Many More
To the One
With Whom I Long for
Every New Year
እወድሃለሁ handsome!
Here is the one gift I know you’d want from me,
Words that tell you how much I love both you…
And our love.
Grow old with me…
